Contest Has Ended!Dogs at the Bar
Announcing The New Yorker's Dog at the Bar ContestThink of this as a kind of Caption Contest 2.0: We give you the pieces to make a cartoon, you decide which characters go where, add speech bubbles, a dash of wit, and—bam!—you're in cartoon city. The theme of this contest is dogs doing what they do best—hanging out in bars. Choose from an assortment of dogs (sad ones, angry ones, weird ones, cat ones, and even a dogcatcher) and some props (a fire hydrant, a steak, a bone), and then build the cartoon. All the pieces you need are provided for in layers—just toggle their visibility and move them around. You’ll have one week to submit cartoons. After the contest closes, the cartoon with the most votes and an editor's pick will be featured on newyorker.com, and the creator will receive a copy of The Complete Cartoons of The New Yorker, signed by the cartoon editor, Robert Mankoff. You will probably also become famous, leave your loved one for some young movie star, and forget where you came from. People will see you on T.V. and say, "Man, he used to be about the cartoons. Look at him now. Disgusting." Best of luck, my intrepid cartoonists! Many thanks to worth1000.com for hosting the Dogs at the Bar Contest.
